The story

François Lesbuche has become a commissioner with the BRB, determined to remain incorruptible. Yet when his old friend René Boisrond, a reclusive retiree living on a houseboat, is involuntarily entangled in a money-laundering case after accidentally losing a haul entrusted to him, François returns to crooked methods to help. Pursued by the Chinese mafia of Belleville, René turns to his surgeon friend Albert, who gives him the identity of a recently deceased patient, Jean Morzini. The new identity brings complications: René receives instructions concerning a planned bank heist and meets Marie, Morzini’s daughter, who believes René is her father. Meanwhile, François takes trainee Julien under his wing.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

As he had wanted ever since meeting René Boisrond, François Lesbuche has become a commissioner with the BRB. Despite his rank and his determination to remain incorruptible, he does not hesitate to go back to his crooked ways to help his old friend René, a reclusive retiree living on his houseboat. Involuntarily caught up in a money-laundering case, René—who accidentally lost the haul entrusted to him—is pursued by the Chinese mafia of Belleville. With the help of Albert, a surgeon friend, René changes his identity and becomes Jean Morzini, a patient at Albert’s clinic who recently died. He then receives a visit from a woman named Maud, who gives him instructions for the bank heist Morzini had planned; and from the real Morzini’s daughter, Marie, who had never seen her father and believes René is him. Meanwhile, François takes a young trainee, Julien, under his wing. Julien is his boss’s godson, and he falls for Marie.
