A bullied boy and a stranded robot set out in an all-terrain invention to rescue the robot’s parents.
The story
Eleven-year-old Tobbi Findteisen lives with his parents in Tütermoor, where his classmates regularly bully him. His life changes when Robbi, a robot, crash-lands on Earth. Robbi’s parents have also landed on Earth and are waiting for help at the North Pole. Tobbi and Robbi set off in the Fliewatüüt, a vehicle Tobbi invented and built with a biker gang at a junkyard; it can fly and travel on water and land. But Sir Joshua, head of the technology company PlumPudding, wants the robots’ technology—which gives machines feelings—and sends agents Sharon Schalldämpfer and Brad Blutbad after them.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Eleven-year-old Tobbi Findteisen lives with his parents in the small town of Tütermoor, where he is regularly bullied by his classmates. One day, when the robot Robbi crash-lands on Earth, Tobbi’s life begins to change fundamentally. Robbi’s parents have also landed on Earth and are now waiting for help at the North Pole. Tobbi and Robbi set off in a vehicle Tobbi invented and built together with a biker gang at the junkyard: the so-called Fliewatüüt, which can fly and travel on water and land. The businessman Sir Joshua, head of the technology company PlumPudding, is also after the robots because he wants their technology—which gives machines feelings—installed in his devices. He hires agents Sharon Schalldämpfer and Brad Blutbad to track down Robbi and Tobbi. On their way to the North Pole, Robbi and Tobbi encounter Matti, a lonely lighthouse keeper in the North Sea. Although he initially betrays them to the agents, he later befriends them and lets them continue on their way. At the North Pole, they meet Nunu, an Inuit girl, who joins Robbi and Tobbi in their search. Robbi’s parents, however, have already been found by the agents and taken back to Germany, where they are to be examined. With Nunu’s help, Robbi and Tobbi manage to free the two robots. From then on, they live with Tobbi’s family too, and Tobbi continues to take trips in the Fliewatüüt with Robbi to visit his newfound friends.
