Two corner-shop buddies devise a desperate kidnapping scheme to pay off a gangster’s debt.
The story
Berlin friends Ronny and Khalid, known as Klaid, are struggling to make ends meet running their neighborhood corner shop. Ronny falls for the daughter of the local mafia boss, while Klaid loses a fortune at the boss’s roulette table. The pair have just one week to find the money and pay the gangsters. After reading online that one in every ten Germans is a millionaire, they come up with a plan: kidnap the next ten customers who visit their late-night shop, hoping one of them will be wealthy enough to solve their problem.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Berlin buddies Ronny and Khalid, known as Klaid, are struggling to make ends meet with their neighborhood corner shop. While Ronny falls head over heels for the daughter of the local mafia boss, Klaid loses a fortune at the boss’s roulette table. The two have only one week to come up with the money and pay the gangsters. On a website, they read that one in every ten Germans is a millionaire. Simple enough: all they have to do is kidnap the next ten customers at the late-night shop. Sounds like an (almost) perfect plan.
