The story
The film documents events at the Phrix AG chemical-fiber plant in Krefeld after its planned closure is announced. Union representatives, company representatives, and workers discuss the new situation, while the film follows four employees who have been laid off. Their daily lives take them between home, the employment office, and conversations with former colleagues. They describe health problems they associate with chemical fumes, noise, monotonous work, and constant stress, and say they feel abandoned by plant management. Because of their age, they see little chance of finding new work.
