The story

An actor disguises himself as a woman to win a film role, complicating his growing romance with an actress.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Actor Alexander Honk plays the lead in the local theater’s production of Charley’s Aunt, in which he plays a man disguised as a woman. Hoping to land a role in a Hollywood film about the Nazi era, Honk disguises himself as a woman and auditions as Alexandra. The director casts him, believing that Alexandra really is a woman. While celebrating his success with his brothers and their buddy, who lives with the brothers, in a snowy park, Alex meets actress Sarah Voss. She has just broken up with her boyfriend, who cheated on her, and spontaneously spends the night with Alex. When they wake up, she has to hurry to the set—and so does Alex. Once there, he runs into Sarah again, disguised as a woman; in his role in the film, he has a lesbian relationship with her. Sarah doesn’t recognize Alexandra in disguise and gets to know her as her best friend. But she doesn’t see Alex out of disguise again for a long time. Alexander’s brothers Jürgen and Basti, their buddy Jan, and his ex-girlfriend Maike also turn up on set, adding to his stress. Later on, Sarah spends a night with actor Thomas, who is also involved in the film project. When Jörg, who plays Hitler, Thomas, Alexandra, and Sarah go to a bar together, Jörg makes his affection for Alexandra clear. “She,” however, is in love with Sarah and tries to talk her out of seeing Thomas. When it comes to light on set that Alexandra is not actually a woman, Alex signs a confidentiality agreement and is removed from the premises. Sarah does not forgive him for lying, and Alex returns to the theater. When Sarah, who lives in Hollywood, shoots her next film on the North Sea coast, Alex goes to see her there and confesses that he still loves her. She turns him down. But after returning to Berlin, Sarah comes to see Alex at the theater. They kiss, and Alex takes her home with him to his shared apartment.
