The story
Chloe Sherman is a resourceful teenager living with her mother, Diane. Chloe suffers from various medical conditions and is kept at home by her mother. While searching for snacks, Chloe discovers a mysterious prescription bottle and realizes her mother may be hiding the truth about her health. When Chloe seeks information about the medication, she discovers it is a drug that causes paralysis. After a confrontation at a pharmacy, Chloe's suspicions are confirmed, leading to a tense situation where she must navigate her mother's increasingly controlling and secretive behavior to uncover the truth of her life.

Chloe Sherman, a teenager with various physical disabilities, lives a sheltered life with her mother, Diane. Chloe's life changes when she finds a bottle of Ridocaine, a drug for dogs that causes paralysis, and realizes her mother has been drugging her. After a confrontation at a pharmacy, Diane takes Chloe home and locks her in her room. Chloe manages to escape her room and find evidence of her past, including a death certificate for a girl named Chloe who died shortly after birth and a story about a baby being stolen. She realizes she is not her biological daughter and that her 'illnesses' are fabricated. After a tense standoff and a physical struggle, Chloe is hospitalized. Years later, Chloe is shown living a successful life as a prosthetist, while Diane is imprisoned in a correctional facility. Chloe visits her and offers her a final, calculated dose of the drug.
