The story
As a boy, John Mogensen sings in a choir; as a young man, he breaks through with the group Four Jacks. His perfectionism about music and fear that he is not good enough weigh on him, while he neglects his wife, Ruth, and drinks heavily to dull his problems.

The film follows the ups and downs in the life of beloved musician John Mogensen. As a boy, John (Harald Kaiser Hermann) sings well in the choir, and as a young man (Rasmus Bjerg) he gets his breakthrough with Four Jacks. After the group breaks up, John experiences one of his low points, until he achieves great success with Danish dance-band songs. John is something of a perfectionist when it comes to music, and he neglects his wife, Ruth (Helle Fagralid). He is afraid he is not good enough and dulls his problems with heavy drinking.
