The story
Sada, the daughter of a family that runs a tatami-mat shop in Kanda, is 14 when a university student named Saito takes her virginity. A medical student, Okada, comforts her, and she falls in love with him. But Okada has Hansen’s disease and disappears, leaving a medical knife in Sada’s hand.

Sada (Hitomi Kuroki), the daughter of the Abe family, who run a tatami-mat shop in Kanda, loses her virginity at the age of 14 to Saito, a Keio University student. The person who comforts her is Okada (Kippei Shiina), a medical student, and Sada falls in love with him. But he has Hansen’s disease, and he disappears, leaving a medical knife in Sada’s hand. After becoming a prostitute, having started out as a geisha, Sada moves from place to place. Eventually, at the recommendation of her patron, Tachibana, she begins living and working at the restaurant Kiku-hon.
