A group of friends are recruited for a psychological experiment at a haunted mansion, only to find themselves hunted by a malevolent spirit.

The story

One year after surviving a traumatic event, Cindy Campbell and her friends are attending college. They are recruited by a sinister professor and his assistant to participate in a psychological experiment regarding sleep paralysis at the haunted mansion known as Hell House. While at the mansion, the group encounters various supernatural occurrences and strange inhabitants. As the investigation unfolds, the line between the experiment and reality blurs, and the group must navigate the dangers of the haunted property while dealing with the lingering presence of a cruel, wicked former owner who still haunts the grounds.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Following the events of the first film, Cindy and her friends are recruited by Professor Oldman and his assistant Dwight to participate in a sleep paralysis study at Hell House. The mansion is haunted by the spirit of Hugh Kane, the former owner. During the stay, the group encounters a foul-mouthed parrot, a creepy caretaker named Hanson, and a woman named Theo. Various supernatural events occur: Cindy is briefly possessed by Kane's wife, a toy clown attempts to kill Ray, and a monstrous weed interacts with Shorty. After a series of escalating incidents, the group is eventually equipped with weapons to fight the spirits. They face off against Hanson, who is possessed by Kane; Cindy successfully exorcises the spirit. Later, during a final confrontation, Cindy is nearly taken by Hanson but is saved when he is hit by a car driven by Shorty, who is being serviced by the ghost of Kane's mistress.
