Scheidung mit Hindernissen (2002)

The up-and-coming businessman Marc Paulke and his lively wife Katrin used to make a great team. But they have been living apart for a year. While Katrin is scraping by as an interpreter, Marc has not only climbed the career ladder but is also about to get married again. The lawyer Sandra Wulff and Marc’s mother, Elisabeth, are already making wedding preparations. Then Marc has to tell his fiancée that his ex-wife does not want to divorce him. While Marc has his hands full postponing the wedding date and soothing the disappointed Sandra, he gets into even deeper trouble: when his conservative boss, Stollwang, hires an interpreter for an important business negotiation, Marc is stunned to discover that his estranged wife Katrin is the one who is supposed to assist him. Since harmonious family life among his employees is part of Stollwang’s corporate philosophy, Marc fears that the truth about his failed marriage will cost him his promotion to junior partner. In desperation, he asks Katrin to play the model wife once again for the duration of their collaboration. Although this double game has Marc scared to death, he manages to bring the negotiations to a successful conclusion. Much of the success is thanks to Katrin, who convinces everyone not only as an interpreter but also as a loving wife.
