As the festival approaches the presentation of Rebecca’s short, frictions within the crew build, entangling their professional hopes with unresolved relationships.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Teaching student Rebecca Förster receives an invitation to the Max Ophüls Prize film festival in Saarbrücken for her new short film, Julia, I Like. The crew also travels there. Actor Robert stays with Ingo, a candle maker, and is annoyed by him because Ingo, an aspiring writer, wants to show his enormous screenplay to every filmmaker he can find. Tensions arise within the crew because Rebecca and cameraman Andi used to be a couple, and Andi and Saskia begin an affair. Eventually, the conflicts play out onstage during the presentation of their short film. There are disappointments at the festival, too: Rebecca’s new screenplay gets little attention, and Saskia and Robert are told they are too old. Finally, Andi presents his baby in Berlin; he and Saskia have become parents.
