The story
Across five mostly unrelated episodes, a cash-strapped Rolex hand model is in love with a Vogue editor and considers an extreme way to make money. On a tourist boat on Berlin’s Spree, a tour guide tries to pass herself off as living an affluent, settled life when an old college friend visits. Two students who spend their time getting high and debating social and economic problems take on a job helping two men move. Elsewhere, three young men pursue sex around Berlin, while two Satanists urgently seek a naked woman for a ritual.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
The film is divided into five episodes that are mostly unrelated in content. “The Hand Model” Boris Wecker (Marc Hosemann) falls hopelessly in love with Nadja (Barbara Kowa), a tough-as-nails Vogue editor, but is broke because it has been some time since his last job as a hand model for Rolex watches. To get money, he considers chopping off his hand, since it is heavily insured. “The Tourist Boat” Charlotte Heinze (Jule Böwe) is a tour guide on a tourist boat on Berlin’s Spree. When an old college friend suddenly turns up with her wealthy husband from Munich/Grünwald (Robert Lohr), Charlotte pretends to have a perfect life with a husband and a villa in the upscale Grunewald district—until her very drunk boyfriend Peter (Milan Peschel) appears. “The Students” Breslin (Robert Stadlober) and Julian (Tom Schilling) are two Berlin students who spend most of their time hanging out, getting high, philosophizing about social and economic problems, and longing for a better world. Their help with the move of two gay men, Klies (Beat Marti) and Caramel (Daniel Krauss), whom the students found through a job-placement ad, quickly turns into a catastrophe. “The Turks” Ali (Eralp Uzun), Halil (Richard Hanschmann), and Birol (Oktay Özdemir) are young Turkish men looking for sex. Their search takes them to the legendary Berlin KitKatClub and to a Goa party at Müggelsee, where a ketamine high puts an end to their urges. “The Satanists” Fred (Kirk Kirchberger) and Arnold (Daniel Zillmann) are two Satanists who urgently need a naked woman for a ritual. When a prostitute cancels because she finds the job too perverse, Arnold’s grandmother, who is in a persistent vegetative state, has to take her place.
