The story
Ten years after forming Mystery Inc. following a chance encounter in a haunted house, the group faces a professional setback when a potential investor refuses to work with Scooby-Doo and Shaggy. While cooling off at a bowling alley, the duo is terrorized by shapeshifting robots belonging to the villainous Dick Dastardly. They are rescued by the superhero Blue Falcon and his team. As Dastardly seeks to capture Scooby to unlock the gates to the Underworld, the gang must navigate a series of dangerous encounters to protect their friend and uncover the truth behind Scooby's secret legacy.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After a failed business meeting, Shaggy and Scooby are attacked by Dick Dastardly's shapeshifting robots, the Rottens. They are saved by the Falcon Force, but Dastardly's true goal is revealed: he wants to open the gates to the Underworld to rescue his dog, Muttley. He needs Scooby because Scooby is the last descendant of Peritas, Alexander the Great's dog. While Fred, Daphne, and Velma investigate Dastardly's airship, Shaggy and Scooby travel to Messick Mountain. A rift forms between Shaggy and Scooby as Shaggy feels insulted by Scooby's importance to the Falcon Force. Shaggy is eventually captured by Dastardly, leading the group to unite and rescue him. In Athens, Dastardly releases the rampaging Cerberus. The gang works together to trap the beast while Shaggy sacrifices himself to lock the Underworld gates, eventually being reunited with Scooby. The film ends with Mystery Inc. opening a new headquarters and receiving an upgraded Mystery Machine from the Falcon Force.
