The Mystery, Inc. gang reunites to investigate a haunted island where they discover that the monsters are not just people in costumes, but real supernatural threats.
The story
After a year-long hiatus, Shaggy, Scooby, Fred, Velma, and Daphne reunite to investigate a bayou island allegedly haunted by the ghost of pirate Morgan Moonscar. The gang, who have grown bored of solving mysteries involving people in costumes, embarks on a road trip across the U.S. to find a real ghost for Daphne's new reality television series. Upon arriving in New Orleans, they are invited to Moonscar Island by a woman named Lena Dupree. Despite their skepticism, the group agrees to stay overnight, only to be met with ghostly warnings and eerie occurrences that challenge their belief in the supernatural.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Mystery, Inc. members reunite for Daphne's birthday to scout haunted locations for her reality show. In New Orleans, they visit Moonscar Island, where they meet locals and stay overnight. Shaggy and Scooby are chased by zombies, and the gang discovers the zombies are real after Fred pulls one's head off. They find wax voodoo dolls that allow them to control one another. They eventually discover a secret chamber where Lena and Simone reveal themselves as werecats. The werecats explain they were transformed 200 years ago by a cat god to preserve their immortality by draining the lives of victims during every harvest moon. Shaggy and Scooby disrupt the draining ceremony, and the werecats disintegrate as the harvest moon passes. Beau, an undercover police officer, reveals himself, and the gang leaves the island.
