Full plot (contains spoilers)
Jack Forrest’s farm is attacked by bandits. When he returns from work, Jack finds that his family has been slaughtered, but his dying father manages to tell him that the culprit is Grandel, a mysterious man about whom nothing is known. Jack sets out to track down those responsible. One of Grandel’s killers is Dexter, a cynical, bloodthirsty gunman who later kills his companions during a robbery so he can keep all the loot for himself. Jack manages to find Dexter dying after a clash with some surviving companions and make him talk. He learns that the robbery’s gold is hidden in the cemetery at Whintroph and that Grandel is a fictitious name used by one of the town’s leading figures. After a great deal of investigation, and with the help of a mysterious gunman, Jack manages to discover Grandel’s true identity: Mr. Parker, the owner of the Black Edward.
