Sein größter Bluff (1927)

Harry and Henry Devall are twin brothers. Henry, who was born just half an hour after Harry, works as manager for the owner of a jewelry store, Mrs. Andersson. One day, she asks him to take a set of diamond jewelry to Nice and hand it over to an important customer, the Rajah of Johore. On the way there, the valuable jewelry is stolen. Harry, who has just returned from America, immediately rushes to help his brother, and the two go to Nice to recover the jewels. It doesn’t take long to identify the culprit: a woman from the underworld named Yvette, who had fished the jewelry out of Henry’s pocket with her nimble fingers. The Devall brothers catch her in the act as she tries to sell the diamonds on her own to the Indian Maharaja. But Yvette is far from the only person after the jewelry; a whole string of crooks now try to snatch it from Harry and Henry. Even the Indian prince is a fake. But the identical twins use their striking resemblance to fool the gangsters with a simple trick. After much back and forth, the showdown takes place at a half-ruined country estate between Nice and Monte Carlo. All the crooks lured there are arrested by the police. The jewelry is finally back in the right hands, and as his reward, Henry wins the hand of his boss’s daughter, Tilly Andersson.
