The story
Yves Parlier sets off from Les Sables-d'Olonne for his third Vendée Globe, a nonstop, unsupported solo sailing race around the world. After leading for nearly a month, he encounters weather problems in the southern Indian Ocean, where his mast breaks. He continues with reduced sail.

In , in Les Sables-d'Olonne, sailor Yves Parlier sets off for the third time in the Vendée Globe, a solo, nonstop, unsupported round-the-world sailing race. Leading the race for nearly a month, he encounters weather problems in the southern Indian Ocean, where his mast eventually breaks. With reduced sail, Yves Parlier makes his way to Stewart Island in New Zealand, where he manages to repair his mast all by himself and without assistance, watched by two Paris Match journalists. After this feat, he resumes the race, battles hunger, and arrives in Les Sables-d'Olonne, welcomed as a hero to the cheers of the crowd.
