The story

In 1998, Stephen Glass is an associate editor at The New Republic. The youngest of the magazine's staff, he is popular with his colleagues for his entertaining stories, works collegially with everyone, and feigns a heartfelt self-deprecating style whenever caught in a fact-checking error in his published articlessuch as "Spring Breakdown", about a group of Young Republicans engaging in felonious debauchery while attending the annual CPAC. He serves under editor Michael Kelly, who holds loyalty with the writers.
