Full plot (contains spoilers)
Mavi, who grew up in Germany, lives in Hamburg and has just won an architecture award. Her boyfriend, Can, repeatedly tries to propose to her, but something gets in the way each time. For their second anniversary, he gives her a ten-day holiday in Istanbul, where Mavi’s mother, Aynur Şimşek, grew up. Mavi has never been to Turkey and, unlike Can, does not speak Turkish. At Istanbul airport, a driver takes Can and Mavi to a villa, where they are welcomed by Caroline Mehnert, who learned about Mavi’s trip through social media. There, Mavi meets her grandmother, Yadigar, whose son Osman Bilgin was Mavi’s father. She learns that she comes from a wealthy Turkish business dynasty. Yadigar is the head of the Bilgin Holding. For the time being, she has handed over management to Güney, since she had only one son and knew nothing of Mavi’s existence until recently. The matriarch now intends for Mavi to leave her old life behind and join the family business. Through her personal assistant, Caroline, Yadigar arranges for Can to return to Hamburg and his father’s law firm, which has received a major contract from Rana Ergüler. Yadigar asks the bachelor Kent Wolff to keep an eye on Mavi. A short time later, a photo of Kent and Mavi appears in the media, where they are described as the new dream couple of high society. After seeing the photos, Can returns to Istanbul. Yadigar wants to prevent Can and Mavi from staying together and offers him a blank check if he leaves Mavi. Can and Mavi argue because he believes she would not fit into the Bilgins’ world and would not be happy there. Yadigar comes from a rocky village in Cappadocia that Güney wants to demolish because the rock is porous. Mavi discovers that the village was sold to Güney, who plans to build a hotel complex there. Instead, Mavi wants to take responsibility for renovating the village for her grandmother. At Yadigar’s birthday party, Mavi learns from her mother that Yadigar once offered her money to leave Osman, just as she has now done with Can. Can and Mavi argue again over a photo of her kissing Kent. Disappointed by her grandmother’s schemes, Mavi returns to Hamburg. She receives a letter from Yadigar with the blank check, on which Can has written, “Not for all the money in the world.” Mavi and Can reconcile, and she proposes to him; he accepts. They celebrate their wedding with her family and his.
