The story
Somewhere in Africa, a small town is threatened by the advancing desert and war, while drought is killing its livestock. Most villagers leave and head south. Rahne, the only literate person, instead decides to go east with his wife, Mouna, and their three children. Their few sheep, goats, and dromedary, Chamelle, are their only possessions.

Somewhere in Africa, a small town is threatened by the advancing desert and war. The livestock are dying because of the drought. Trusting their instincts, most of the villagers leave and head south. Rahne, the only literate person, decides to head east with his three children and his wife, Mouna. A few sheep, a few goats, and Chamelle, a dromedary, are their only possessions. Rahne and his family cross hostile lands beneath a murderous sun, walking endlessly and often encountering death. Their exodus will have a happy ending.
