The story

Silvia feels neglected by her husband, Kurt. During a train journey, she reads “Joy of Flying” by “Betty Miller,” a book described as an allusion to Erica Jong’s bestseller “Fear of Flying.” She dreams of watching a couple live out their relationship without restraint. Soon afterward, she meets Jörg, a successful businessman and, to her, the man of her dreams, and begins an affair with him. But she has to share his attention with other women, complicating the new relationship.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The young woman Silvia is neglected by her husband, Kurt. During a train journey, she reads the book “Joy of Flying” by “Betty Miller”—an allusion to Erica Jong’s bestseller “Fear of Flying.” She dreams that she watches a couple live out their relationship without restraint. Shortly afterward, she meets the man of her dreams, the successful businessman Jörg, and begins an affair with him. However, she has to share his attention with other women. The story takes her from Munich to Salzburg and finally to Monte Carlo, where the virile Jörg secures business shares by sleeping with the exotic beauty Caballé—3% each time. This is too much sexual freedom for Silvia, who immediately flies out of Monte Carlo. Silvia and Jörg eventually meet again in Salzburg, where in the meantime the capable beauty has successfully overcome her fear of flying through flying lessons.
