A fashion magazine editor and a pilot must survive on a deserted island after their plane crashes during a tropical vacation.

The story

Robin Monroe, a New York fashion magazine editor, and her boyfriend Frank are spending a week-long vacation on Makatea, an island in the South Pacific. The final leg of their journey is piloted by Quinn Harris, whose younger girlfriend Angelica accompanies them. While en route to a fashion shoot in Tahiti, a sudden thunderstorm forces Quinn to turn back. Lightning strikes the plane, damaging the transmitter and radio, forcing Quinn to land on a deserted island. The next day, Frank and Angelica join an aerial search party for their missing partners, leaving Robin and Quinn stranded together.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Robin Monroe, a New York fashion magazine editor, and her boyfriend Frank are vacationing on Makatea in the South Pacific. Their pilot, Quinn Harris, and his girlfriend Angelica accompany them. After a drunken Quinn unsuccessfully hits on Robin, Robin hires him to fly her to Tahiti for a fashion shoot. A thunderstorm causes a crash on a deserted island, leaving Robin and Quinn stranded. They discover they are on a different island than intended and spot a pirate yacht. After a brief capture and escape, they find a crashed WWII floatplane. Meanwhile, back on Makatea, a depressed Frank has sex with Angelica. Quinn and Robin salvage the floatplane's pontoons and modify Quinn's plane to escape. Pirates attack, injuring Quinn, but they manage to take off. Robin crash-lands the plane at a memorial service for them. Robin visits Quinn in the hospital, but they part ways. Later, Robin returns the engagement ring to Frank after confessing her feelings for Quinn. Quinn finds Robin at the airport, and they are reunited.
