A series of mishaps involving a jewelry box leads to a complicated romantic entanglement between two different men and the woman they both intend to marry.

The story

After her boyfriend Gary is hit by a car outside a Tiffany's store on their anniversary, Rachel finds a jewelry box in his belongings and assumes he wants to marry her. However, the box actually belongs to Ethan, one of the men who performed first aid on Gary. The box contains Tiffany earrings that Gary originally bought for Rachel. When Ethan and his daughter Daisy visit Gary in the hospital, Rachel invites them to her bakery. While helping her with the rush, Ethan and Rachel begin to bond, leading to a series of misunderstandings as both men eventually present their Tiffany gifts at Christmas.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After Gary is hit by a car, Rachel finds a jewelry box she believes is an engagement ring from him, but it actually belongs to Ethan, who performed first aid on Gary. The box contains earrings Gary bought for Rachel. At Christmas, both men present their gifts; Ethan keeps quiet about the mix-up because his girlfriend Vanessa likes the earrings. Gary, who is amnesiac from the accident, proposes to Rachel with the ring, and she accepts. Ethan later tries to retrieve the ring from Gary but fails. When Rachel goes to Tiffany's for advice, she realizes the truth from a saleswoman. Gary admits he knew the ring wasn't his but wanted to marry Rachel anyway. On New Year's Eve, Rachel discovers Gary was on his way to a hook-up when they met and breaks up with him. Simultaneously, Ethan and Vanessa break up after discovering his lies. Daisy orchestrates a meeting for Ethan and Rachel by the East River, where they begin a relationship. A year later at Christmas Eve, Ethan proposes to Rachel with the ring she received a year earlier.
