The story
After a tragic accident on the highway leads to a confession of infidelity, a man named Carey seeks solace at the beach house of his best friend, Paul. While there, he discovers that Paul and his wife, Julie, are in an open relationship. The discovery creates a tense dynamic as the two men navigate their respective marital problems. When a confrontation over a stolen jet ski leads to a physical altercation, the boundaries between the two couples begin to blur, forcing them to navigate the fallout of their complicated romantic entanglements and the shifting loyalties of their friendship.

After a car accident leaves a woman dead, Carey learns his wife Ashley is unfaithful and wants a divorce. He retreats to the beach house of his best friend Paul, whose wife Julie reveals they have an open marriage. Following a fight over a stolen jet ski, Carey and Julie have a sexual encounter. When Paul returns, a violent argument ensues. Later, Carey and Ashley attempt to save their marriage by entering an open relationship, but Carey secretly continues his affair with Julie. The plot follows the escalating tensions as the two couples navigate their overlapping lives, culminating in a series of confrontations. Eventually, Paul is sent to prison for financial crimes, and the couples' relationships are redefined. The film ends with the characters still entangled in their complicated dynamics, with Ashley and Carey raising a child while Paul and Julie maintain a sexual relationship despite being separated.
