Full plot (contains spoilers)

In 2259, Captain James T. Kirk is demoted after violating the Prime Directive. He is later reinstated to lead the Enterprise alongside Spock to find the terrorist John Harrison. Upon reaching the Klingon homeworld, they discover Harrison is actually Khan Noonien Singh, a genetically engineered superhuman. Khan reveals that Admiral Marcus has been manipulating the situation to spark a war with the Klingons. The Enterprise is intercepted by a larger Starfleet warship, the USS Vengeance, commanded by Marcus. After a series of maneuvers and a space-jump, the crew faces Khan on the Vengeance. Spock manages to separate Khan's frozen crew from the torpedoes before both ships plummet toward Earth. In the ensuing battle in San Francisco, Spock engages Khan in hand-to-hand combat. Ultimately, Kirk is saved by Khan's blood, and Khan is captured. One year later, the crew embarks on a new five-year mission.
