Rey must seek out the legendary Luke Skywalker to help the Resistance fight against the rising First Order.

The story

Following the Battle of Starkiller Base, General Leia Organa and the Resistance are forced to evacuate their base as the First Order fleet arrives. While the Resistance fleet attempts to escape into hyperspace, they are pursued by the First Order. Simultaneously, Rey travels to the remote planet Ahch-To to find Luke Skywalker, a legendary Jedi Master who has lived in self-imposed exile. She hopes to convince him to join the fight against the First Order. Meanwhile, a desperate mission is launched to disable a tracking device used by the First Order to hunt the fleeing Resistance.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After the Battle of Starkiller Base, the Resistance flees the First Order. Leia survives a direct attack but is separated from her fleet. On Ahch-To, Rey finds Luke Skywalker, who is in exile; he agrees to train her briefly before she leaves to find others. Meanwhile, Finn, Rose, and DJ attempt to disable a tracking device at Canto Bight. Kylo Ren, seeking to find Luke, eventually confronts Rey and Snoke. During a desperate evacuation, Holdo remains behind as a decoy while the others flee to Crait. Kylo Ren kills Snoke and faces Rey, who refuses to rule the galaxy with him. On Crait, the Resistance faces the First Order; Luke Skywalker appears and projects his image to help them escape. He dies peacefully on Ahch-To, and Rey and Leia realize the Resistance can rise again. The film ends with a stablehand on Canto Bight moving a broom with the Force.
