Full plot (contains spoilers)
Andrea Jahn teaches at a secondary school and is the homeroom teacher of an eleventh-grade class in Lübeck. She is highly regarded by her colleagues, students, and their parents. This begins to change when her student Nick falls in love with her and makes no secret of it, regularly showing her how he feels. Ms. Jahn repeatedly rejects him, making it clear that she is married and does not love him. Besides, he has a girlfriend. But Nick refuses to listen and remains persistent. During a school trip, he dances with Ms. Jahn for a while. He then invites her to spend a night with him on a houseboat. Instead, his girlfriend Lisa turns up. The romantic setting immediately leads her to assume that he and his teacher are having a sexual relationship, though nothing of the kind has ever happened. The rumor spreads through the school, and reporters hound the teacher, turning the matter into a sex scandal. Fake photographs also surface, depicting the teacher in an intimate moment with her student. When Andrea Jahn’s husband visits Nick’s father because his wife has gone missing, he notices photomontages on the floor showing his wife in a sexual pose with her student. He manages to catch up with his wife outside the houseboat, and the couple reconcile. Nick tries to run after them, but ultimately has to give up on his plan.
