Stiller (2025)

In the 1950s, during a train journey through Switzerland, an American who holds a passport issued in the name of James Larkin White is arrested at the border. He is believed to be the sculptor Anatol Stiller, who disappeared seven years earlier and is wanted because of his involvement in a murky political affair. White insists that he is not Stiller. To expose him, the prosecutor’s office asks Stiller’s wife, Julika, for help, but even she cannot identify him with certainty. The viewer is left unsure whether White is Stiller. This is reinforced by the fact that in the flashbacks Stiller has a mole beneath his right eye, whereas White does not.
