A group of disgraced officers are recruited to establish a new police department in a disputed border territory between the U.S. and Canada.
The story
Several years after the first film, the officers have been fired from the Spurbury Police Department after they had taken actor Fred Savage on a ride-along that resulted in his death. Farva is now a construction supervisor, with Mac and Rabbit working for him. Mac receives a call from his former boss, Captain O'Hagan, to gather the group and meet for a fishing trip in Canada. Once the group arrives, they find that O'Hagan's intention had been for them to have a meeting with Vermont Governor Jessman. She explains that land in Canada was originally designated for the U.S. and invites the group to become state troopers again.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After being fired from the Spurbury Police Department, the original officers are recruited by Captain O'Hagan to become state troopers in a region of Canada recently designated as U.S. territory. They face hostility from local Canadians and begin a series of pranks and patrols. During their duties, they discover a drug smuggling operation involving counterfeit phones and pills. They eventually discover that the local mayor, Guy Le Franc, is the leader of the smuggling ring. A shootout ensues where the troopers and the Canadian Mounties (who suspected the troopers of smuggling) team up to take down Le Franc. Genevieve, a cultural attaché, is revealed as an undercover officer. Despite their success, the territory remains in Canadian control due to the hidden contraband, leading to a final brawl between the two nations' officers. A mid-credits scene shows the original incident with Fred Savage, and a post-credits scene shows Farva drinking a smoothie with his pinky toe in it.
