The story
Lieutenant Anaïs Marchini, an undisciplined police officer with controversial methods, is summoned to see a judge, whom she first mistakes for an investigating judge. He is actually a guardianship judge, and Anaïs learns that her recently deceased father named her legal guardian of Gabrielle, the ten-year-old half-sister she never knew existed. Exceptionally precocious and already in high school, Gabrielle soon begins helping Anaïs investigate the suicide of a medical student.

But he is actually a guardianship judge: in his final wishes, her father, who has just died, named her Gabrielle’s legal guardian. Gabrielle is her ten-year-old half-sister, whose existence she had not known about. Exceptionally precocious, Gabrielle is already in high school and is a gifted child who begins helping her sister investigate the suicide of a medical student.
