The story
In the 21st century, the research spacecraft Ikaros is destroyed by meteorites near Jupiter, still within our own solar system, before its intended search for intelligent life in other solar systems can take place. Every search for survivors has failed. Commander Veikko wants to make another attempt aboard his ship, Laika, but must disguise the rescue mission as maintenance work on uncrewed space stations. With a motley crew, he sets out on this concealed mission.

In the 21st century, the research spacecraft Ikaros, which was supposed to search for intelligent life in other solar systems, was destroyed by meteorites while still in our own solar system, near Jupiter. Every search for survivors proved unsuccessful. Commander Veikko wants to give it another try with his ship, Laika, but must disguise his rescue mission as maintenance work on uncrewed space stations. With a motley crew, he manages to find survivors of the Ikaros, who had held out for many months in a still-functional piece of the wreckage.
