Carole Schneider has money but is dissatisfied with her life. She tries forcefully to attract the attention of those around her, yet cannot manage it even with her lover, Alexander. Full plot (contains spoilers)
Carole Schneider is a beautiful woman, and she is not short of money, but she is dissatisfied with her life. She tries with all her might to attract the attention of those around her, but she cannot even manage it with her lover, Alexander. So she cries out, “Kill me!” into the emptiness of this world. But her provocations usually come to nothing, just like her daily life. Only when she unjustifiably suspects people of terrorism and even accuses them of it is she admitted to a mental institution. There, she expands her own fantasies with the delusions of the other inmates. Soon she can no longer distinguish reality from madness. She decides to stay in the institution forever. But she is discharged as healthy. Once again exposed to life in reality, she commits suicide.
