Full plot (contains spoilers)
A group of college friends – Haley, Grant, Paxton, Paige, Madeline, Lucas, and Elise – rent a mansion in the Catskills for Elise's birthday. After Haley reads their fortunes using a box of strange old tarot cards found in the basement, Elise is killed by a monstrous High Priestess, and Lucas is killed by The Hermit. The survivors seek out Alma Astrom, an expert who reveals the cards belonged to an astrologer in 1798 who cursed the deck after her daughter was killed by a count. Alma warns them to destroy the deck. While traveling back, Madeline is killed by The Hanged Man, and Paxton is attacked by The Fool. At the mansion, Haley, Grant, and Paige try to burn the cards but are unable to. Alma is summoned but is killed by the astrologer's spirit. The Magician kills Paige, and Grant is dragged away by The Devil. Haley eventually performs a reading on the astrologer's horoscope, giving her the Death card. This allows Haley to let go of her grief, and the astrologer's spirit is burned along with the deck. Haley and Grant reconcile, and Paxton survives after his roommate intervenes.
