A battle-hardened survivor and a reprogrammed Terminator must team up to protect a young woman whose fate is to lead a human resistance against a new, deadly artificial intelligence.

The story

Set 25 years after the events of Terminator 2, a malevolent artificial intelligence known as Legion from an alternate future sends a highly advanced Terminator, the Rev-9, back in time to 2020 to assassinate Dani Ramos. Dani is destined to become the leader of the Human Resistance in the future. To protect her, the Resistance sends an augmented soldier named Grace back in time. Grace is joined by Sarah Connor and a self-aware T-800 Terminator named Carl. Together, this unlikely group must navigate a dangerous landscape to protect Dani from the relentless pursuit of the Rev-9 while trying to navigate the complexities of their own divergent timelines.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

In 1998, Sarah Connor survives an attack by a T-800 that killed her son, John. In 2020, the Rev-9, a liquid-metal Terminator from the future, is sent to Mexico City to kill Dani Ramos. Dani is protected by Grace, an augmented soldier from 2042. They are joined by Sarah Connor and Carl, a T-800 that gained consciousness and a family after its mission failed. The group travels to Laredo, Texas, to evade the Rev-9 and authorities. They eventually face the Rev-9 at a hydroelectric dam. In a final confrontation, Carl and Grace manage to trap the Rev-9 in a turbine, causing an explosion. After the Rev-9 is destroyed, Dani and Sarah remain to prepare for the coming war against the AI Legion.
