The story
After more than 30 years away, Doc Snyder returns to his hometown of Texas so his mother can wash a sack of dirty laundry. He loses it during a stagecoach holdup, where an aging gunslinger called the Nasenmann is also robbed and becomes bent on revenge. At his mother’s home, Doc learns that his brother Hank is to be hanged. Doc knows this has to be stopped.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After more than 30 years, Doc Snyder returns to his hometown of Texas to have his mother wash a sack full of dirty laundry. During a holdup of a stagecoach, he loses the laundry sack. The Nasenmann, an aging gunslinger who was robbed on that occasion, is bent on revenge. At his mother’s home, Doc learns that his brother Hank is to be hanged. Naturally, this has to be stopped. Doc manages to get his heavyset brother out of jail with a trick, but the sheriff confronts them in the street. Doc shoots the sheriff in a duel, but Hank, whom Doc used as a human shield, dies too. After Doc’s mother samples the whiskey her son made by distilling her old slippers, she dies as well, leaving him completely alone and without family. A duel with the enraged Nasenmann is inevitable; Doc emerges victorious. Doc even meets God: God comes to the rescue with an earthquake when the people of Texas are about to turn on Doc. Finally, Doc rides off alone with his guitar. The younger of the two noblewomen from the stagecoach wants to go with him, but he refuses, among other reasons because he is a solo guitarist. Near the end, two people from another time appear: Inspector 00 Schneider and his assistant. The film ends with the inspector running over Doc Snyder with his car and then declaring that Doc Snyder does not exist.
