The story
Peter Parker, known to the public as the vigilante Spider-Man, struggles to balance his personal life with his responsibilities as a hero. While trying to protect his girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, from the dangers of his world, he begins investigating the mysterious circumstances surrounding his parents' deaths. His life becomes increasingly complicated as he encounters the supervillain Electro, a man who has gained immense electrical powers after a laboratory accident. Simultaneously, his childhood friend Harry Osborn is dealing with his father's terminal illness, leading to a series of escalating conflicts that force Peter to confront the consequences of his actions and the growing dangers surrounding those he loves.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
The story begins with a flashback showing Richard and Mary Parker fleeing a kidnapping, leading to their deaths. Years later, Peter Parker lives as Spider-Man. He is in a relationship with Gwen Stacy but keeps her at a distance for her safety. Meanwhile, Max Dillon becomes the villain Electro after an accident at Oscorp. Harry Osborn, whose father Norman is dying, seeks out Peter to find Spider-Man's blood to cure his own impending illness. After a series of confrontations, Harry is mutated by a serum and becomes a threat. Peter eventually discovers the truth about his parents' escape from Oscorp's bioweapons program. During a climactic battle with Electro, Peter and Gwen defeat the villain, but during a subsequent confrontation with a mutated Harry, Gwen falls to her death. Devastated, Peter retires from being Spider-Man until he is forced back into action to face the villainous Rhino.
