The story

In 1945, the United States Army fails to capture the Oberkassel railway bridge in the last weeks of World War II before it is blown up. Lieutenant Phil Hartman is an experienced and war-weary platoon leader in the 9th Armored Division. After the death of his company commander, Captain John Colt, he is promoted to replace him and continue the advance to Remagen.
