The story
In 1971, the Perron family moves into a farmhouse in Rhode Island where they begin experiencing increasingly disturbing and terrifying events. The family seeks the help of renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, who are known for their work on prominent cases of haunting. Upon arrival, the Warrens discover that a dark entity has latched onto the family, and the house's history reveals a connection to a woman who practiced dark arts. The investigation reveals that the haunting is not merely a local ghost but a dangerous spiritual presence that threatens the safety of the children and the parents alike.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
The film begins in 1968 with Ed and Lorraine Warren investigating the Annabelle case involving a possessed doll. In 1971, the Perron family moves into a farmhouse in Rhode Island. They encounter paranormal activity, including a stopped clock at 3:07 a.m. and the death of their dog. The Warrens are called in and discover the house was once owned by Bathsheba Sherman, a witch who cursed the land. Lorraine sees that Bathsheba's spirit is attempting to possess Carolyn Perron. As the situation escalates, the Warrens' daughter is attacked as a warning. The Perron family flees to a motel, but a possessed Carolyn returns to the house with two daughters. Ed, Lorraine, and a police officer perform an exorcism on Carolyn, ultimately defeating Bathsheba and sending her back to Hell. The film ends with the Warrens adding a haunted music box from the Perron home to their collection of cursed artifacts.
