The story
Sergeant First Class James Harper, a decorated Green Beret, is involuntarily discharged from the Army and faces financial ruin after using illegal steroids for a knee injury. To secure his future, he accepts a job with a private military company led by his friend's associate, Rusty Jennings. The team is tasked with a clandestine operation in Germany to retrieve data from a scientist suspected of working for Al-Qaeda. As Harper navigates the dangerous mission, he must decide how far he is willing to go to protect his family and his country while dealing with the complexities of private military involvement.

After a mission in Germany to seize data from a scientist named Salim, Harper and Mike are separated during a police shootout. While Mike is injured, Harper eventually discovers that his employer, Rusty, has betrayed them. After being captured and held in a safe house where he learns the scientist was actually working on a vaccine, Harper escapes and returns to the United States. He reunites with Mike, and the two devise a plan to infiltrate Rusty's compound. During the final confrontation, Mike is mortally wounded while distracting the guards, but Harper successfully eliminates Rusty. Following the battle, Harper burns Mike's body and finally returns to his family.
