A sheriff and his pregnant wife must survive a deadly outbreak of a biological agent in a small town.

The story

In the town of Ogden Marsh, Iowa, a local man's violent behavior leads Sheriff David Dutten to confront a growing threat. When David's wife, Judy, a community doctor, notices a neighbor exhibiting bizarre and repetitive behavior, the couple faces a terrifying reality. After a military aircraft crash is discovered in a nearby swamp, David suspects a link between contaminated water and the town's residents' erratic actions. Despite the mayor's refusal to act, David takes measures to protect the community. However, the situation escalates when communication is cut off and the military arrives to quarantine the town, forcing the couple to navigate a landscape of escalating danger and infection.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After a local man's violent behavior and a mysterious aircraft crash in a nearby swamp, Sheriff David Dutten and his wife Judy discover a biological agent, 'Trixie,' is turning residents into violent killers. When the military quarantines the town, David and his deputy Russell must navigate the chaos to find Judy, who is separated from him. They eventually escape the high school but are hunted by the infected and a military force that has been ordered to eliminate civilians. During their flight, they encounter a government employee who reveals the truth about the Rhabdoviridae prototype. After several allies fall to the infected or the military, the group reaches a truck stop where David learns the military plans to destroy the town. They escape in a semi-truck, only to be caught in a massive explosion that destroys Ogden Marsh. The film ends with a military satellite confirming the 'containment protocol' as the couple continues on foot.
