The Croods discover a technologically advanced paradise but must navigate the complexities of living with a more evolved family.

The story

The Croods, Guy, and their pets roam their new homeland in search of a permanent place to settle. While Grug, the family patriarch, worries about the budding romance between Guy and his daughter Eep, the family takes an unexpected turn when Grug discovers a massive wall. They lead the family over it into a paradise-like land inhabited by the Bettermans, a technologically advanced family of modern humans. The Bettermans, who were friends with Guy's late parents, behave condescendingly toward the Croods and attempt to manipulate Guy into leaving Eep and her family to live with them.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The Croods, Guy, and their pets roam their homeland looking for a permanent home. Grug discovers a massive wall and leads the family into a paradise-like land owned by the technologically advanced Bettermans. Phil and Hope Betterman, who were friends with Guy's late parents, treat the Croods condescendingly and try to manipulate Guy into staying with them. Tensions rise as Grug feels uncomfortable in Phil's 'man cave' and Ugga is manipulated by Hope. Eep discovers that the Bettermans' daughter, Dawn, has never left the walls and takes her on a reckless joyride. After a falling out between Guy and Eep, the Croods decide to leave while Guy stays behind. Their departure is interrupted by Punch Monkeys who capture Grug, Phil, and Guy to sacrifice them to a monstrous Spiny Mandrilla. The rest of the Croods and Bettermans find themselves marooned in a frozen wasteland. Hope eventually accepts the Croods as equals, and the two families unite to rescue the captives. Guy and Eep reconcile, and they use a giant skull chandelier to defeat the Spiny Mandrilla. The film ends with the Bettermans and Croods living as neighbors, and the Punch Monkeys moving in next door.
