Full plot (contains spoilers)
Ebony Jackson, a single mother with a history of substance abuse and a criminal record, moves her three children and her ailing mother, Alberta, into a new home. The family's stability is threatened by Ebony's financial debts and the mysterious behavior of her children. Youngest son Dre begins communicating with a presence he calls 'Tre' in the basement. After a series of alarming incidents, including a local pastor's warning about a past tragedy in the house, Ebony discovers Alberta has died and the children are in danger. A local pastor helps Ebony become a believer to perform a deliverance. During the exorcism, the demon 'Tre' possesses Dre and attacks the family. Ebony eventually finds the strength to exorcise the demon, though the children suffer physical marks. Six months later, Ebony is reunited with her children in Philadelphia, while the original house is demolished despite lingering reports of paranormal activity.
