The story

Aspiring journalist Andrea "Andy" Sachs, a recent graduate of Northwestern University, lands a job as a junior personal assistant to Miranda Priestly, the formidable and demanding editor-in-chief of Runway magazine in New York City. Despite her lack of experience in the fashion industry and her initial reluctance to conform to its superficial standards, Andy must navigate the high-pressure environment and the irrational demands of her superior. To survive in the prestigious workplace, she must decide how much of her own identity she is willing to sacrifice to succeed in the glamorous but ruthless world of fashion journalism.
