After a group of people survives a deadly racetrack disaster, they are stalked and killed one by one by Death.

The story

College student Nick O'Bannon and his friends are at the McKinley Speedway for a semester break when Nick has a premonition of a catastrophic racetrack accident. The disaster, which would have killed everyone in the grandstand, occurs only after he panics and forces his group to flee. However, the survivors soon realize that they are being hunted. Nick becomes convinced that Death is systematically killing them in the order they would have died in the original disaster. As the group attempts to identify and evade the next targets, they must navigate a series of deadly occurrences while trying to outrun their predetermined fates.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Nick O'Bannon has a premonition of a horrific accident at the McKinley Speedway and leads his friends to flee just before the disaster strikes. While they survive, others do not, and Nick realizes that Death is now hunting the survivors in the order they were meant to die. The group attempts to identify and warn the next victims, but many are caught in 'accidents'—including a man burned alive by a gas leak, a woman killed by a lawnmower, and a man crushed by a bathtub. Nick eventually realizes that a series of events he witnessed was actually a second premonition. In the final act, Nick, Lori, and Janet reunite at a café, only to be killed when a truck crashes into the building. The film concludes with the revelation that their reunion was part of Death's plan to claim them all at once.
