Before the events of the original series, Fred and Barney embark on a prehistoric journey to find love in the neon lights of Rock Vegas.

The story

In prehistoric suburban Bedrock, young bachelors and best friends Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble have recently qualified as crane operators at Slate & Company. They hope to score dates, aided by the help of The Great Gazoo, a small, green alien only they can see. Meanwhile, Wilma Slaghoople, the daughter of a wealthy military veteran, runs away from her controlling mother's desire for her to marry a suave casino owner. She meets waitress Betty O'Shale at a restaurant in downtown Bedrock. The two men eventually invite the women to a carnival, leading to a series of comedic misunderstandings as they attempt to bond.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, new crane operators in Bedrock, seek dates with the help of the alien Great Gazoo. Wilma Slaghoople flees her wealthy home to work as a waitress with Betty O'Shale. Fred and Barney take the women to a carnival, but the pairings are swapped. During the outing, Fred wins a baby dinosaur named Dino. After a dinner where Wilma's wealth is revealed, Chip Rockefeller, a casino owner, invites the group to his Rock Vegas resort. Chip secretly plots to frame Fred for theft to steal the Slaghoople fortune. While Chip seduces Barney away to a buffet, Fred is kept gambling. Chip eventually frames Fred for stealing Wilma's pearls, leading to both Fred and Barney's arrest. Gazoo helps them escape from prison. Barney reconciles with Betty, while Fred disguises himself as the rock star Mick Jagged to propose to Wilma. Wilma accepts, and they marry in the Rock Vegas Chapel of Love, while Betty and Barney share a kiss.
