The story
In early 1980s Los Angeles, high school student Gary works as a pizza delivery boy and navigates the complexities of teenage life with his friends, Rick and David. While at a soda shop, Gary encounters a new student named Karen and instantly falls in love with her. However, complications arise as Karen begins dating Gary's rebellious best friend, Rick. As the two boys navigate their respective romantic pursuits and various mishaps, Gary finds himself caught in a burgeoning love triangle, struggling to win Karen's affection while dealing with the consequences of his actions and the shifting dynamics of his social circle.

In early 1980s L.A., high school student Gary works as a pizza delivery boy. He falls for a new student, Karen, but she begins dating his best friend, Rick. The plot follows the three friends as they engage in various escapades, including a failed attempt to trick girls with 'cocaine' (actually Sweet'n Low) and a tryst with a prostitute to keep Rick and Karen apart. Gary also encounters a woman named Carmela who offers him a sexual encounter, which is interrupted by her partner. Later, Karen reveals she is pregnant, leading to a confrontation between Gary and Rick. Gary eventually pays for Karen's abortion and cares for her at his grandmother's house. On her 18th birthday, Gary takes Karen to a party where he finds her making out with Rick, leaving him heartbroken and alone.
