The story
In the DC-centric portion of the Lego universe, Batman protects Gotham City and fights crime. After a confrontation with the Joker leads the villain to plot revenge, Bruce Wayne attends a gala where he unexpectedly agrees to adopt an orphan, Dick Grayson. When the Joker crashes the party and the city's villains are initially apprehended, Batman finds himself feeling obsolete. To regain his purpose, he plans to steal a device from the Fortress of Solitude. However, a series of mishaps leads to the villains escaping and ravaging the city, forcing Batman to realize that he needs a team to protect Gotham.

After a confrontation with the Joker leaves the villain seeking revenge, Bruce Wayne attends a gala where he adopts an orphan, Dick Grayson, and names him Robin. When the Joker's henchmen are initially captured, Batman feels useless until Harley Quinn steals the Phantom Zone projector, releasing a horde of villains to ravage Gotham and Wayne Manor. Batman and Robin, joined by Barbara Gordon (who becomes Batgirl), must fight the invaders. During the chaos, Batman initially tries to fight alone to protect his teammates from his own fears of loss. After being sent to the Phantom Zone, he realizes his mistakes and learns to embrace the idea of family. He returns to Gotham, reunites with his team, and with the help of the villains, they manage to save the city. Batman eventually reveals his identity to Robin and is allowed to remain in the real world by the Phantom Zone's warden.
