Loretta Sage, a reclusive romance novelist and former archaeology researcher, is forced onto a book tour with her cover model, Alan Caprison. Their tour is interrupted when billionaire Abigail Fairfax kidnaps Loretta to find the 'Crown of Fire' on a remote volcanic island. Alan and a former Navy SEAL, Jack Trainer, launch a rescue mission. After Jack is injured, Loretta and Alan flee into the jungle. They eventually reach a village and discover the crown's location in a cenote. However, they are captured by Fairfax's men. Upon reaching the site, they discover the 'treasure' is actually a memorial for a queen's love, not gold. Enraged, Fairfax traps them as the volcano erupts, but a henchman with a change of heart leaves them a crowbar to escape. They survive by swimming through an underwater tunnel. Later, Loretta's next book based on their adventure becomes a success, and they share a kiss. In a post-credits scene, they meet Jack, who survived his head wound.
