Full plot (contains spoilers)
In 1662, King Louis XIV's reckless rule leads France toward revolution. When a plot to assassinate him is foiled, the king's actions alienate his musketeers. Aramis, secretly leading a group of Jesuits, reveals a plan to depose Louis by replacing him with his long-hidden twin brother, Philippe, who is imprisoned in an iron mask. The musketeers infiltrate the prison to free Philippe and train him for the court. During a masquerade ball, they successfully swap the brothers' identities. However, the ruse is eventually discovered by D'Artagnan. In a final confrontation at the Bastille, D'Artagnan reveals he is the biological father of both brothers. During a final charge, D'Artagnan is fatally wounded while protecting Philippe. Philippe takes the throne as the new king, while the true Louis is left to live in peace, and the musketeers are named his closest advisors.
