As the night unfolds, Leonard must navigate the volatile dynamics of the mobsters and his own complicated relationships to survive the escalating violence.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
In 1956 Chicago, Leonard Burling, an English tailor, operates a shop used as a stash house by the Irish Mob. When Richie, the boss's son, arrives wounded and carrying a secret FBI recording, Leonard is forced to hide the tape and treat Richie's wounds. As the night progresses, Leonard manipulates the various mobsters—including the enforcer Francis and the boss Roy—to protect himself. He orchestrates a series of lies, eventually convincing the enforcer to believe the shop's receptionist, Mable, is the 'rat' and a traitor. He even maneuvers a rival gang leader, Violet, into taking a fake tape while he secures the real one. It is revealed that Leonard has been playing a long game, using his knowledge of the mob's operations to outmaneuver them all. In the end, after ensuring the real evidence is sent to the authorities and the rival's men are neutralized, Leonard reveals his past as a former enforcer who fled a life of crime. He finally eliminates the remaining threats and burns the shop to the ground, walking away in a new suit.
